Would You? A Public Education Campaign for Employers

MyHelper is not an employment agency — we don’t place or match helpers with employers. What we do is public education: helping employers in Singapore understand the realities many domestic helpers face, so they can be fairer, more informed employers.

The truth behind the industry

The way domestic helpers are hired in Singapore is often driven more by market practice than by what’s actually fair. The systems behind it are largely invisible to the employers who benefit from them. Many helpers arrive in Singapore already carrying a heavy debt burden — one of the core reasons MyHelper exists.

The cost of hiring a helper isn’t always shared fairly between employer and helper — and when it isn’t, it’s usually the helper who carries the imbalance. There are good employers and there are bad ones. There are good helpers and there are bad ones too. But the helper is almost always the one with the least power in the relationship, and the least room to absorb a bad outcome.

We ask employers to pause and imagine doing the job they’re asking of the woman in their home.

We’re happy to explain our welfare programmes, training subsidies, and advocacy work.
