MyHelper Pte Ltd is a social enterprise dedicated to alleviating the debt burden of domestic helpers, ensuring their psycho-social well-being during their stay in Singapore, and providing them with skills that enhance their employability after their contracts end.

Our story

MyHelper was founded in 2013 by James Quek, previously the Executive Director of World Vision Singapore, an international Christian humanitarian organisation. In his years overseeing poverty-alleviation projects across 16 countries, James saw again and again that women were the standard bearers of their families — and that when circumstances became untenable, many had to leave home to work as domestic helpers overseas, often at great personal risk.

What began as an employment agency has, over the years, evolved into something different. Today MyHelper operates purely as a social enterprise — we are no longer in the business of matching helpers with employers. Instead, our full attention goes to the welfare, training and advocacy work that this site describes: mentoring helpers through their first months in Singapore, organising outings and community, subsidising skills training, and educating employers on fair and dignified treatment of the women who work in their homes.

Domestic helpers are precious — they are mothers, sisters and daughters who have left the comfort of home in search of a better life for their families. Every helper has a story, and every helper deserves to be treated with dignity.
