James Quek was previously the Executive Director of World Vision Singapore, an international Christian humanitarian organisation. World Vision Singapore has long-term poverty alleviation projects in 16 countries. In his travels to the projects, he saw that women were the standard bearers in taking care of the family. When things became untenable, many had to make sacrifices by becoming maids overseas or by sending their daughters to work as maids overseas to support the family. In many instances they risk being the victims of exploitation and human trafficking rings. James Quek hopes to make life a little easier for these hardy women who have left the safety and comfort of their homes in search of work opportunities in Singapore.
The maid industry is driven more by market practices than by market forces. This has resulted in systemic problems for employers and maids. Employers sometimes find themselves disadvantaged while maids end up with a pile of debts.

MYHELPER believes that maids are precious in the sight of God. They are mothers, sisters and daughters. Driven by circumstances, they have given up the comfort and safety of their homes to work in Singapore in search of a better life for themselves and their families. The company seeks:
• to effect change towards Godly righteousness in the maid industry by providing employment with dignity and fairness for maids and a premium service for employers' peace of mind; and
• to glorify God and to bear Him witness by demonstrating Christian values consistent with the Word of God in our interaction with maids, employers and business partners.
